  • IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RE-COOLING EQUIPMENT FOR COOLING WATER IN A NEW DIMENSION:
ULTRACOOL MAXI CHILLERS FOR THE ACCURATE TEMPERATURE CONTROL OF PRODUCTION PROCESSES

If production processes require exact temperature control, the Ultracool chillers of Donaldson come into operation. They ensure that the necessary cool or process water always holds a constant temperature. Because the Ultracool range does not divert the heat in the process water over ventilators, but does so over a second water circulation, the operation is perfectly independent from the ambient temperature. With a convenient, easy to operate set-up program, the maximum and minimum values of the desired process water temperature can be entered; a large display respectively provides information on each relevant operating parameter.

Up to now the Ultracool range was available in eighteen different sizes ranging from a nominal cooling capacity of 1 to just under 200 kW. The program is now supplemented by the "Maxi" range, which is suitable for a cooling capacity of 300 to 500 kW.

The Ultracool Maxi chillers have two, respectively three cooling circuits and an integrated storage tank with 800 respectively 1000 l water capacity which serves as process tank. A pressure control device compensates for pressure fluctuations. The units are designed in such a way that the chillers operate within the energy-saving low pressure range.

Besides the accurate temperature control, water-cooled chillers are also characterised by the feature that they require less space for installation than air-cooled units. Furthermore they require less energy and operate with less noise than chillers with ventilator cooling. Since they do not require additional air and exhaust air ducts, they are also considerably easier to install.

Examples of application areas for the Ultracool range are amongst others digital printing machines, plastics machines, microprocessor manufacturing and - an obvious example - the production of ice-cream. The "Maxi" units with their high cooling performance are amongst others used for process cooling in the chemical industry.
