  • IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW MIST COLLECTOR WITH NEW FILTER MEDIA AND HEPA FILTER:
FOR HIGH OPERATING SAFETY AND HEALTH PROTECTION IN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION

Many metalworking production plants are characterised by a very typical odour: the oil-bearing vapours of the cooling lubricants can often be noticed even outside the factory gates. This need not and should not be so: with the WSO range, Donaldson has presented new mist collector which operate highly efficiently and can be integrated very easily.

The WSO mist collector reliably keeps back aerosols. The separation rate for oil mist particles with a size of 0.07 to 1.2 µm is around 99.97 %. This high degree of efficiency must not be “bought” by an increase in the operating costs because the new mist collector operates by the cross-flow principle. The filter inserts are open at the bottom and are passed horizontally, whilst the separated particles, which combine in the medium to form coalescent droplets, are drained downwards by gravity. This permits the separated cooling lubricants to be re-used and simultaneously creates the conditions for very long filter life.

The oblong shape of the filter with rounded edges provides a filter surface of up to 45 % larger than conventional bag filters or cartridge filters, also increasing the filter life and minimising maintenance costs. A differential pressure gauge indicates the need for a filter change. After a securing lever has been released, the filter can be easily replaced.

Not only the design of the housing and the filter are new, but also the filter media of the WSO range. The Synteq™ XP media is employed, which was developed specifically for this application. The filter fabric consists of a blend of long polyester fibres which ensure mechanical stability and very fine glass fibres which retain the oil aerosols deep inside the medium. A thermal process is used to bond the fibres. In this way, a mechanically highly stable fabric free of bonding agents is produced, with a high dirt absorption capacity and a low differential pressure. This fulfils the demands for more economy in extraction systems by low energy consumption and longer filter life.

With these properties, the WSO mist collectors make an important contribution to protecting health, as some of the oil vapours are capable of entering the lungs and can be unhealthy. For this reason, corresponding limits are applicable in production plants, which the owner can reliably uphold with the WSO range. A standard HEPA filter followed by a Synteq™ XP filter also holds back other toxic materials such as allergenic substances.

The new range is available in two sizes. Due to the compact design, the mist collector can be easily configured for floor- and machine mounted.
