  • IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COST-EFFICIENT AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY. NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR EFFECTIVE CONDENSATE MANAGEMENT.

Efficient and energy saving draining and processing of condensate should be part of every compressed air station. Because condensate volumes of more than 10 m³ are quite normal, effective condensate management depends largely on modern technology. After the successful launch of the new condensate drain, Donaldson now also introduces its new oil/water separators.

With the new Ultrasep Superplus N range, Donaldson once again sets new standards for condensate processing. During the development the extensive knowledge of the service specialists, with regard to preliminary compressed air processing steps, were taken into consideration. This is made obvious by the improved user friendliness of the oil/water separators. The outlet filter from which the air escapes from the discharge chamber, can now be changed from the outside without having to open or remove the lid: removing the new brushed stainless steel cover plate is sufficient to reach the outlet filter element.

The settings of the overflow were thought through again. This requirement is necessary to efficiently separate the oil swimming on the surface and can now take place without getting your fingers dirty: the level of the drain tray is adjusted by means of a revolving stepped pulley. Also for the following processing step the service friendliness has been improved. The tray, in which the coalescing filter is found, which agglomerates the oil shares to drops is equipped with a plastic handle and can therefore be easily removed.

Thereafter the multistage adsorption with pre-filter material and a high efficiency activated carbon stage takes place. The shape of the chambers in which the two filters are found have been optimised in order to enable an exchange within seconds and with very little effort.

Also the possibilities for various connections have been optimised: for the condensate supply and the water drainage various different connection sizes are available, aligned according to the performance of the cross-sections. This guarantees that the oil/water separator can be exactly adapted to the various customer requirements.

With the test set which can be found underneath the lid of the Ultrasep Superplus N the purity of the waste water can be tested in a short time to determine whether it conforms to the stipulated norms. For the occasion that there might be a malfunction, a floater indicates to the operator that action should be taken.

The Ultrasep Superplus N has been type-examination tested, therefore the customer does not have to go through the extensive single acceptance tests (as is specified for all not type-examination tested water processing units). The units that are available in various sizes from 10 to 240 l/hour are suitable for the processing of oil/ water mixtures found in the majority of compressed air plants. Donaldson provides the Ultraaqua Autoclean UFA-AC range for the processing of stable condensate emulsions.

Alone in Germany approximately 80 Donaldson service technicians take care of compressed air processing as well as attend to condensate purification. In the various service options offered by Donaldson the maintenance of the condensate processing equipment is included in a fixed cost. For those customers who wish to perform the task themselves service-kits are available.

According to §7a of the water conservation law (WHG), waste water containing oil may only then be led into drains, if the proportion of oil is below 20 mg/l; regionally even lower limit values may apply. These values are not reached by compressed air condensate: condensate contains more than 200, in some cases even more than 1000 mg/l. Because the professional disposal of condensate is often expensive and requires extensive transportation, condensate processing systems have become "state of the art" in many compressed air stations.
