NEW HIGH PRESSURE ADSORPTION DRYER. REDUCING COSTS WITH HIGH PRESSURE.

Compact design and modern energy-saving control engineering belong to the substantial characteristics of the new high pressure adsorption dryers which Donaldson presents. The HLP dryer series was developed for compression phases of up to 25, 40, 100, 250 and 400 bar. The smaller models permit space-saving wall assembly, the larger dryers require much less setting up surface and height due to a new framework concept.

A high energy efficiency is particularly important with high-pressure dryers, because generating compressed air by multi-level compressors is more expensive than with traditional 8-bar working air. Energy saving measures therefore become even more strongly apparent than with conventional adsorptions dryers, therefore the electrical and pneumatic control engineering of the HLP series was substantially optimized with regard to the energy consumption.

If the user selects the standard option with the Superplus Ultraconomy microprocessor control, the new dryer becomes particularly energy-saving. The new control, which is already successfully used in the Ultrapac Classic adsorption dryers, provides for a significant reduction of the compressed air-specific operating costs, because it controls the different process cycles according to demand.

In the past months many users have noticed that one can clearly reduce the processing costs in this way. Especially enterprises with existing adsorptions dryers - whether from Donaldson or other manufacturers – which have been retrofitted with the Superplus Ultraconomy and those monitoring the dryer-specific energy costs confirm: This saving measures are amortized fast - in practice substantially lower energy costs are reached.

Therefore after successful field tests it was not even put to debate whether the new energy-saving control should also be used in the new HLP series - the user benefits from energy savings, which permits a rapid amortization of the investment in new control engineering. Thus Donaldson offers a convincing argument for the acquisition of a new high pressure adsorption dryer - or for the retrofitting of existing dryers with the new control.

Also the pneumatic control components of the new high pressure dryers were fundamentally revised: Instead of sensitive direct-controlled single solenoid valves, durable pneumatic seat valves are used, which with the larger series are accommodated in a compact valve block.

The flow rates of the HLP series were adapted to the volumes of current high pressure compressors, so that an optimal interaction is ensured between the compressor and dryer. Of course the dryers are supplied as a complete version with pre and afterfilters; the modular system with standard options allows for adapting the units to the respective application. Amongst other things the options consist of a pressure-retaining valve as starting valve, a pressure-reducing valve as well as various versions of automatic condensate drains.
