Premiere at the HANNOVER MESSE, Hall 26, Booth D55: New Cyclone Separators
Cyclone separators are preferably used as first level in the purification chain of compressed air stations. They are easy in operation, reliable and maintenance-free. Cyclone separators represent a niche existence, because they operate inconspicuously and are generally installed directly behind the aftercooler of the compressor or even integrated in the compressor housing. "Unjustly and below value", does the Donaldson Research & Development team comment, hence it has intensively been involved with the cyclone principle. Supported by "Computational Fluid Dynamics" (CFD) analyses, an innovative series of cyclone separators has been developed, which offers an essentially higher efficiency at very low energy losses.
The result is impressive: The air flow generated by the centrifugal forces of the new DF-Cyclone range lead to a more effective separation of liquid and solid contaminants from the compressed air than any cyclone separator before. The water - in form of droplets or splashing water at this point due to the condensation in the aftercooler - is reliably removed. This step of air treatment on its own is not sufficient to generate high quality compressed air. However, since the new DF-Cyclone separator removes solid and liquid aerosols from 5 to 10μm, it is a crucial filter which noticeably relieves the following compressed air filters, refrigeration and adsorption dryers.
The new DF-C cyclone separator convinces with very low differential pressure which helps to lower the energy consumption of the entire compressed air station. The CDP coating of the housing interior contributes not only to an improved air flow but as corrosion protection it also essentially increases the life time of the cyclone separator.
The new DF-C cyclone separators are available in six sizes, which match the current compressor capacities and the connection sizes of the Donaldson compressed air filters as well as the refrigeration and adsorption dryer product range. In addition, the new cyclone separator is integrated in the current DF compressed air filter housing generation, which is driven by a compact and easy to assembly design and a modular construction.
