LEICESTER MAN RINGS THE NYSE CLOSING BELL
Kim Webster, an employee of Donaldson in Leicester, rang the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange to mark the end of the day on Thursday 4th September.
Kim entered an intercompany competition by the worldwide filtration solutions company, Donaldson Company Inc., and was chosen out of 151 employees who correctly guessed that June 30th 2008 would be the day the company achieved their first ever $2 billion sales year.
To celebrate the company’s achievement Kim, a Senior Buyer and long-term employee from Donaldson’s Leicester plant, was flown all expenses paid to the Big Apple to join Bill Cook, Donaldson Company Inc.’s Chairman in ringing the NYSE bell.
Kim said of the experience “This was a trip of lifetime for my wife, Debra and I. We visited the Empire State Building, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, a Broadway show and even dined at 2 of Robert de Niro’s restaurants. But we have to say that the care and attention our American hosts gave and the warmth of their welcome was the highlight of our trip.’
