High-Performance Industrial Hydraulic Filters are setting the Benchmark

Innovative filters for stationary hydraulic systems are a main focus in the product range of the filtration specialist Donaldson. The global company provides components and complete filter systems for this demanding field of fluid filtration, which are characterized by a particularly high efficiency, low maintenance and energy-efficient operation.

Based on many years of experience in industrial hydraulics, Donaldson has extensive expertise in numerous industries, such as the paper, energy, plastics, mining and metal processing industry. This is reflected in the broad product portfolio for the hydraulics industry. Highly efficient product ranges are available in all three pressure levels - low, medium and high pressure - as inline and return/suction filters for various purity classes.

An especially high-performance and cost effective filtration is offered by the new and improved Donaldson Triboguard® filters with the innovative Synteq XP® medium. These hydraulic filters provide a 47 % lower initial pressure drop (in new condition) compared to the previous model series. At the same time the dirt holding capacity was improved by 73 %.

The hydraulic fluid initially flows through an epoxy-coated steel support mesh, which protects the filter media. The Synteq XP® medium itself is integrated in a support layer on both sides (i.e. upstream and downstream), which stabilises the medium in the system at high pressure surges. This feature contributes significantly to the high operational safety and service life of the filter.

The Synteq XP® medium is available in different pore sizes, down to 4 microns at ß(x) = 1000 (per ISO 16889) and can be used for the filtration of mineral oil based fluids, as well as native and synthetic hydraulic fluids and water-oil emulsions.

Even higher is the dirt holding capacity of the Donaldson Triboguard® DX2 filters. This range is distinguished by an innovative 2-in-1 design: With an outer filter element, flow from outside to inside, and an inner filter element, flow from inside to outside. The filters have up to 43 % more pleats than conventional hydraulic filters. The result: This filter design creates the conditions for a 91 % greater dirt holding capacity. This results in a much longer service life of the filters at low maintenance requirements and low costs for replacement elements. Another advantage: These elements are particularly environmentally friendly, since there is less waste material for disposal due to its coreless design, which does not require a metal support mesh.

By using Donaldson Triboguard® filters, the probability of a failure of the hydraulic systems due to contaminated hydraulic fluid can be substantially reduced. The high-performance filters are available as ready-to-install system solution with housing and as replacement filter elements, suitable for the housings of other leading filter manufacturers.
